I have just read some terrible news, Eiko Ishioka the brilliant Japanese costume designer has passed away a week ago. How sad, she was really an amazing artist. I’ve been following her work for some time now, and some of my favorite work of her’s would have to definitely be: her version of Nosferatu in the 1992 film Dracula, for which she won a Oscar, I mean, isn’t Gary Oldman the creepiest vampire ever seen on film?
Her work was also genius in one of my all-time-favorites, the 2006 film The Fall, starring Lee Pace.
She also directed one of Bjork’s most bizarre, yet sweet, yet creepy videos-Cocoon.
The world has lost a truly unique, visionary and underrated artist.
Rest in peace Eiko.
